The Energy Efficient Billboard
Energy Efficient iPERFORMANCE Billboard When it comes to energy efficiency, the very method which we use to communicate our OOH advertising messages, namely digital billboards, are surprisingly wasteful. So to combat the inefficiency of digital billboards, we wanted to create an ad that only uses the energy that it needs. Inspired by BMW’s Efficient Dynamics and iPERFORMANCE innovations, this digital billboard is equipped with a sensor that detects traffic flow. So when the sensor detects a high volume of traffic, the digital billboard springs to life with the image of an I series car and the message, “Only use the energy you need”. When there is a low volume of traffic (i.e. late night or overnight), the billboard shuts down, and only BMW’s logo will be visible. The idea is to maximize efficiency by using the billboard only at a time when people are actually around to see the message.
